The TSJ/ILS girls basketball team began the season this past week with two straight wins over Red Bud/St. John Lutheran, and Steeleville.
The Lady Titans began the season on October 23 as they defeated Red Bud/St. John Lutheran 39-8. TSJ/ILS took control of the game early and did not let up as they held a 25-2 lead at the break. It was more of the same after halftime as TSJ/ILS outscored Red Bud/St. John Lutheran 12-4 in the frame. In the fourth, TSJ/ILS shut out Red Bud/St. John Lutheran and went on for a 39-8 win.
Halle Rueter led the way with 14 points in the win, followed by Megan Rennegarbe with 12 points. Cheyenne Boester scored six points. Kris May added four points, followed by Hanna Niedbalski with two points. Raelyn Obermeier scored one point in the win.
The Lady Titans were back in action on October 26, with a 38-13 win over Steeleville. TSJ/ILS got off to a fast start, as they outscored Steeleville 15-0 in the first quarter. The Lady Titans would go on to extend their lead to 26-4 af the break, and 38-11 after three quarters. In the fourth, TSJ/ILS would not score, but cruised to a 38-13 win.
Rueter again led the way with 16 points in the win. Boester was also in double figures as she finished with 10 points. Rennegarbe and Obermeier each finished four points, while May finished with three points. Lauren Rapp rounded out the scoring with two points.
