Unverfehrt Announces Candidacy For Washington County Treasurer

My name is Linda Unverfehrt. I am announcing that I am a candidate in the March 20 Primary for the position of Washington County Treasurer for the Republican Party.

My accounting background and work experience have prepared me for the position I am seeking.

I held the position of Staff Accountant for Shelnutt & Associates an accounting firm in Carbondale, where I prepared tax returns and audited School Districts and Villages. I also did the audit for the DuQuoin State Fair.

I then moved on to become a Revenue Agent for the Internal Revenue Service where my days were spent auditing tax returns that included many types of businesses. Those audits were across the 13 Southern Counties of Illinois. I held this position for a period of six years before moving on to my next position.

I then worked in the positions of Financial Analyst, Controller and Director of Tax and Internal Audit for Pepsi MidAmerica. While in these positions I was always responsible for all governmental audits and the completion of the annual audit with the outside auditing firm.

My husband Gary Unverfehrt and I live in Hoyleton and enjoy living in a small town community. We have four children and one grandchild. We are members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton and I am currently the Church Treasurer.

My experience, work ethic and commitment to our community have prepared me well to serve the citizens of Washington County.

I ask for the opportunity to work with county residents and government officials to help to continue to make our county a great place to live and work.
