The November and December Project is New Athens Home.

Families are like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions yet our roots remain the same.

Friends paid their respects to the Ethel Marquard family at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville Monday evening. Funeral Services were held Tuesday morning at St. Salvator Lutheran Church with Pastor Art Eichhorn officiating. Interment in the Church Cemetery.

Steve Droege participated in the Shriners Fall Ceremonial Saturday afternoon at the Shriners Temple in East St. Louis.

Friends and relatives attended the Sawyer Backs Benefit at the Okawville American Legion Home Saturday. There was a large crowd in attendance.

The Venedy Band held their End Of Year Party at the home of Ron and Glenda Recker on Sunday evening.

Steve and Gina Droege attended the St Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey game at Scottrade Center Saturday evening. What a great win, Blues over the Leafs 6 – 4.

Some area residents attended the Washington County Home and Community Education Christmas special Monday evening at the St. Peter’s Parish Hall in Okawville. The decoration theme was “Snowmen”, a fun, festive evening.

Steve and Gina Droege, David and Tiffany Droege, Ryan and Kayla Droege and Stanley and Ora Mae Droege were with family and friends at the home of Ed Paszkiewicz for a Birthday Celebration for Ed on Sunday afternoon.

Former members of St. John’s UCC, Johannisburg who remember the piano in the school house, it has found a new home. Ryan and Kayla Droege of Cape Girardeau, MO have given it a new home.

Ladies Night Out, Vendor Show and Quarter Auction, November 11, at the Okawville Community Club. Sponsored by the Immanuel Alumni and Friends Association. Call 618-322-7998.

Sunday, November 12, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Talent in Music Festival beginning at 3 pm at the Church.

Immediately following, at 4 pm, Immanuel Men’s Club Chili and Chicken Soup Dinner. Serving until 7 pm.
