A Thanksgiving Poem

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump,
May your yams be
delicious and
Your pies take the prize, and may
Your Thanksgiving dinners stay off your thighs.

Be extra cautious while driving now, as it is deer hunting season. Heard that duck season opened Saturday, busy time for hunters.

Eula Haier, Ora Mae Droege, Darleen Sandheinrich and Shirley Kocher, Classmates of Okawville High, met for lunch at Eckerts Restaurant Wednesday.

There will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Hall on Monday, November 27th from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Life’s a Gift, give more of it. Donate blood.

Relatives & friends attended the wedding of Ross Recker & Jennifer Meyer at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mankato, Minnesota on Saturday, Nov. 11th at 2:30 in the afternoon with the reception following at the Verizon Center.

It is not Happy people who are Thankful but Thankful people who are Happy.

Some area residents attended the 64th annual St. Libory American Legion Turkey Raffle and Free Dance Sunday. Music was by Rendition. Where can you go to a free dance and possibly come home with a turkey or two?

Steve & Gina Droege, and Ed Paszkiewicz, left on Tuesday for a trip to Branson, MO for their “Veteran’s Week”. They had a great time at several shows including Andy Williams Christmas Extravaganza, SIX, and The Miracle of Christmas, and at Dewey Short Visitor’s Center at the dam, Showboat Branson Belle, Vietnam movie at the IMAX and ending on Saturday with the Veteran’s Parade downtown. Branson does an outstanding job of honoring the Veterans!!

The 34th Annual Country Christmas Stroll at Okawville will be December 2nd from 9 am to 5 pm and December 3rd from 11 am to 4 pm. Come spend the day.

Another neat event is the Sip N shop at the Brickhouse in St. Libory. Thursday, November 16, beginning at 6 pm.

Pastor Bill Groennert conducted worship service at Friendship Manor in Nashville on Tuesday. Wednesday, Pastor Bill held the Okawville Bible Study at The Original Springs.

He then attended a noon UCC Clergy lunch at the Mule Barn in DuBois.

My family wants me to stop telling Thanksgiving jokes, but I can’t stop cold turkey!
