The Annual Food Fight was hosted at St. Paul UCC on Nov. 8.
There were 60 youth and adults who gathered from 4 churches, Grace United Methodist Church, St. Ann Catholic Church, Hoyleton Trinity Lutheran and the St. Paul United Church of Christ.
Thanks to the communities’ generosity, this group collected over 3,300 items which were used to stock the shelves at the Washington County Food Pantry in Irvington.
Plus, the group was also able to complete 70+ Thanksgiving bags which contained all the items needed to fix a Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey, (thanks to the fundraising efforts of St. Paul UCC)
The event is called a “Food Fight” because a traveling trophy is awarded to the church that collects the most food per youth in attendance. This year’s winner was Hoyleton Trinity Lutheran.
