KC Holiday Instrumental Concert December 5
The Kaskaskia College Music Department will present is Holiday Instrumental Concert on Tuesday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jane Knight Auditorium. The concert will feature the Kaskaskia College Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan and includes many seasonal favorites.
Concert Band Highlights include: “The Night Before Christmas” narrated by Lucas Morgan; “Fantasy On A Bell Carol” by Edward J. Madden; Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival”; “Greensleeves” arranged by Alfred Reed; Larry Neeck’s “Of Kings And Christmas”; and “Toward a Northern Star” by Gary P. Gilroy.
Jazz Band Highlights include: “Moten Swing” arranged by Sammy Nestico; “Lil’ Darlin’” as recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra; “The Christmas Song” featuring flugelhorn soloist, Len Campbell; a trombone section feature titled “On the ‘Snowy’ Side of The Street” arranged by John Clayton; “Norwegian Wood” as recorded by the Buddy Rich Big Band; and “Jingle Bells” arranged by Sammy Nestico.
The concert is free and open to the public with a reception for patrons and performers immediately following the performance. Reception made possible through the generosity of the individual members of the Jim Beasley Veterans Tribute Committee.
