Santa Saturday And Shopping Local For The Holidays
By Alex Haglund
With Thanksgiving Thursday, the Christmas season and, of course, the shopping season, begins in earnest on Friday, November 24, “Black Friday.” While there are many who will shop at national chains, and online, shopping local can bring a number of benefits to the shoppers, and helps to keep the money that you spend in the community.
For “Shop Local Saturday”, November 25, or “Santa Saturday”, a number of area businesses will be holding annual sales and events to get you to spend your time and money right here in Washington County.
“Santa Saturday” is also the day when Santa gets into Nashville for the holidays, arriving at the L&N Depot in Nashville. Santa will arrive at the Depot, via firetruck, at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and will be there until 3:30 p.m. Rachael Kreid will be at the Depot as well to get pictures of youngsters with Santa.
Santa will be at the Depot throughout the month of December as well. On December 2, 9, 16 and 17, Santa will be at the Depot from 2 to 4 p.m., and on December 19, 20, 21 and 22, he will be there from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
The L&N Depot is owned and maintained by the Washington County Historical Society, who hosts the Nashville Chamber (and Santa!) there for the month.
