St. Ann Girls Basketball Defeats St. Andrew Murphysboro

The St. Ann girls basketball team picked up a win in their only game this past week as they defeated St. Andrew Murphysboro 38-30 on the road. The B team also picked up a victory 37-18 over St. Andrew.

The Lady Saints jumped out quickly as they scored 10 in the first, led by Talanie Kozuszek with six points in the frame.

In the second, St. Ann scored nine points as a team, and used a balanced scoring effort to get there. Johannes, Kozuszek, Ruby Konkel, and Reese Varel all scored two points apiece in the quarter.

In the third quarter, Konkel took control as she scored nine of the 11 points for St. Ann. St. Ann was able to hold on in the fourth for the 38-30 win.

Konkel led the way with 13 points, followed by Kozuszek with 10. Johannes added six points, while Varel scored four points for the Lady Saints. Pelczynski chipped in three, and Van Hise rounded out the scoring with two points.
