Lloyd Spenner

Lloyd H. Spenner, 90, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Hoyleton, passed away at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on March 1, 1927, in Hoyleton, the son of Theodore and Julia Kleiboeker Spenner. He married Marilyn Dries on September 24, 1948 in Hoyleton and she passed away on December 24, 2001.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Xondra Hug; a grandson, Matthew Frost; two brothers, Alvin and Earl Spenner; and a son-in-law, Milton Pitts, Jr.

Left to mourn his passing is a son, Joel (Becky) Spenner of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Nina (Charles) Pollard of Lonedale, Mo., and Ruth Spenner Pitts of Webster, N.Y.; a brother; Virgil “Butch”(Elaine) Spenner of Hoyleton; two sisters, Linda (Henry) Windler of New Minden and Lois (Ronnie) Bartling of Nashville; nine grand and eight great-grandchildren.

Lloyd was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII serving in the South Pacific. He was a lifelong farmer in the Hoyleton area. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton where he was active in Men’s Club and served on the school board and as an elder and trustee. He was a member of the Hoyleton Community Club, Hoyleton Lions Club and Hoyleton American Legion and was the last surviving founding member of the Hoyleton Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran school or church. Styninger Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Hoyleton is in charge of arrangements.
