District 49 Call Home – December 13, 2017

District 49 Call Home – December 13, 2017

As it seems winter weather is finally here, please be sure your child is dress appropriate for the weather. Recess will be inside only if it is snowing or raining or the wind chill or actual air temperature is 320 or below. So all children need to have a warm coat, hat, gloves, and possibly a scarf at school every day.

Wednesday, December 13 is Lego Club for our 2nd – 8th grade students. Students must have written permission to attend. Unfortunately Mrs. Taylor is moving to Monmouth at Christmas Break, so this will be the last Lego Club for all of our students.

Friday, December 15 is Hats Off to Cancer Day! A $1 donation to the Relay For Life lets your child wear a hat to school!

The Illinois State Board of Education invites our parents to participate in a school improvement survey.

To participate in the survey please click on this link

The link is also available on our website. In this survey, you will be asked to provide feedback about our school. Please consider your child’s current experience at school (i.e., 2017-2018 school year).

This survey is designed to help school and district leadership improve their understanding of the parent/school relationship.

In lieu of a student Christmas gift exchange in our Primary School classrooms this year we are collecting donations for Make A Wish® Illinois. You have until December 20th to fill up your classroom container for a great cause!

If you have not registered on yet, try it this month. This new fundraiser is so easy, log onto find our school and then scroll down the left to a host of over 400 stores, a percentage of your purchase will come directly to our school! All funds raised benefit our non-detention activities and field trips. A great way to Christmas Shop!

Looking ahead:

Wednesday, December 20 is a 2:10 dismissal day. There will be Jr Hornets this day. Christmas Break is December 21 – January 2.
