The Nashville Jr. Hornets boys basketball team suffered a tough loss this past week as they fell to DuQuoin 35-30 in overtime. It just the Jr. Hornets fourth loss of the season. Nashville has a record of 9-4 on the season.
On December 7, the Jr. Hornets traveled to DuQUoin to take on the Warriors. A closely contested matchup, the two teams needed overtime to decide a winner.
DuQuoin got the early lead, as they held a one point advantage at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the DuQuoin lead had grown to two points at 11-9. After three quarters, the Jr. Hornets still trailed 22-19. In the fourth, the Jr. Hornets were able to come back to tie the game at 28 and force overtime. In the overtime period, DuQuoin was able to pull away to take the five point win, 35-30.
Nolan Heggemeier led Nashville with 13 points in the loss. Michael Combs added seven points, followed by Kolten Gajewski with five points. Aaron Brink finished with three points, and Hayden Robinson finished with two points.
In the seventh grade game, the Jr. Hornets picked up a 28-26 win over DuQuoin. Bennett Briles finished with nine points, followed by Aidan Heiman with eight points. Trey Reinburg finished with six points, while Rylan Hammer finished with three points. Quintin Loquasto rounded out the scoring with two points.
