The St. Ann girls basketball team won both of their matchups this past week as they defeated Hoyleton and Kell. St. Ann dominated the competition as they defeated Hoyleton 44-26, before defeating Kell 45-8.
On December 16, St. Ann traveled to take on Hoyleton. St. Ann would control the action, as they steadily increased their lead over the course of the game. When the final buzzer sounded, St. Ann got the win 44-26.
St. Ann got off to a quick start, as they held an 11-6 lead after the first quarter of play. In the second quarter St. Ann doubled their lead as they outscored Hoyleton 9-4 to take 20-10 lead at halftime. After the break, St. Ann continued to build their lead, as they outscored Hoyleton 12-8 in the third, and 12-8 in the fourth to take the 44-26 win.
Talanie Kozuszek led the way with 12 points, followed by Hazel Konkel and Colleen Jahnke with 11 points apiece. Ruby Konkel added four points, while Ally Johannes, Reese Varel, and Tailer Pelczynski each finished with two points.
St. Ann was back in action on December 18 as they traveled to take on Kell. St. Ann, dominated the action and easily took the win 45-8.
St. Ann got off to another fast start as they outscored Kell 10-1 in the first. They put the game way in the second, as they outscored Kell 20-4. In the second half. St. Ann was in cruise control as they outscored Kell 10-2 in the third, and 5-1 in the fourth to take the 45-8 win.
Hazel Konkel and Jahnke each had 12 points to lead St. Ann. Kozuszek added 10 points, followed by Varel with six points. Pelczynski finished with three points, and Emma Van Hise rounded out the scoring with two points.
