The TSJ/ILS girls basketball team won three of four games as they defeated Wayne City, Edwardsville, and Central City, before dropping a contest to St. Mary Mt. Vernon.
On December 11, the Lady Titans hosted Wayne City. TSJ/ILS took control in the first quarter, and held off a late rally by Wayne City to take a 30-23 victory. The Lady Titans shut out Wayne City 7-0 in the first, and held a 16-10 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, TSJ/ILS extended their lead further as they outscored Wayne City 8-2 in the frame to take a 24-12 lead with one quarter to play. In the fourth, Wayne City outscored TSJ/ILS 11-6, but the Lady Titans held on for the seven point win.
Halle Rueter led the way with 12 points, followed by Megan Rennegarbe with 10 points. Raelyn Obermeier scored six points in the win, while Cheyenne Boester scored two points.
TSJ/ILS was back in action on December 12 as they took on Edwardsville. The Lady Titans dominated the action in the first half to defeat Edwardsville 43-23. TSJ/ILS outscored Edwardsville 15-3 in the first, and 15-7 in the second to take a 30-10 halftime lead. In the second half, Edwardsville could not close the gap as the Lady Titans grabbed a twenty point win.
Rennegarbe led the way with 18 points, followed by Boester with 12 points. Obermeier scored 9 points, and Hanna Niedbalski scored four points to round out the scoring for the Lady Titans.
On December 16 TSJ/ILS took on Central City. Central City took an early advantage in the contest, but the Lady Titans used a huge fourth quarter to take the win. Central City took the early lead as they outscored TSJ/ILS 10-4 in the first. In the second, the Lady Titans took the lead, as they outscored Central City 10-2 to hold a 14-12 halftime lead. Central City would come out firing in the third quarter as they scored 16 points in the frame, while TSJ/ILS scored eight points in the quarter. At the end of three, Central City led 28-22. In the fourth, TSJ/ILS would make their comeback. The Lady Titans outscored Central City 17-7 in the final stanza to come away with the four point win.
Obermeier scored 14 points in the win to lead TSJ/ILS. Rennegarbe and Rueter each added eight points, while Boester scored six points. Niedbalski rounded out the scoring with three points.
The Lady Titans were back in action on December 18 as they took on St. Mary Mt. Vernon. St. Mary Mt. Vernon fell behind early, but used a huge second quarter to take the lead and held on late for a 38-35 win. The Lady Titans held the early lead, as they outscored St. Mary Mt. Vernon 10-7 in the first quarter. St. Mary Mt. Vernon would double up the Lady Titans in the second as they outscored TSJ/ILS 16-8 in the quarter to take a 23-18 lead at the halftime break. In the third, St. Mary Mt. Vernon extended their lead to hold a 32-24 lead with one quarter to play. In the fourth, the Lady Titans outscored St. Mary Mt. Vernon 11-6, but the comeback came up just short as St. Mary Mt. Vernon held on for a three point win.
Rueter led the way offensively with 11 points, followed by Obermeier with 10 points. Rennegarbe finished with eight points in the loss, and Boester added six points.
