Karl Reed Beckmeyer

Karl Reed Beckmeyer, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, in Marion County, Fla., following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 29, 1948, in Centralia, the youngest son of G. R. “Bob” and Alice Reed Beckmeyer.
Mr. Beckmeyer is survived by his wife Debby, daughter Kristen, son Steven, and brother Gus. Also surviving are his aunt Joan Maxwell, niece Alicia Springer and son Bryce, nephew Reed (Angie) Beckmeyer and sons Christian and Peter and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three uncles and an aunt.
Karl spent much of his youth in Nashville, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a good student in school. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Nashville.
Karl attained his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami (Florida) in 1970 followed by his law degree from the University of Florida in 1973.
He practiced law in Florida for many years, where he was a member of The Florida Bar and served a term on the Florida Bar Board of Governors. He also served as a Circuit Court Mediator for many years.
Karl was also active in Rotary International and was past President of the Upper Keys Rotary Club. He also served several terms on the Board of the Upper Keys Chapter of the American Red Cross.
In the prime of his life, Karl was an avid tennis player, skeet shooter, remote-control model aircraft enthusiast, and being a licensed private pilot, he enjoyed flying his plane at every opportunity.
Karl also enjoyed laughing and reminiscing at family gatherings.
Cremation was conducted per his wishes. A Celebration of Life is being planned. The location and date have yet to be determined.
