Mr. Roland Jacobs of Okawville, departed this life in the Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 12:43 A.M. He had attained the age of 72 years, 8 months and 4 days.
Roland was born in Washington County, on May 21, 1945 the son of Adolph Jr. and Hildegard (nee Reinkensmeier) Jacobs. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Lilienkamp in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Okawville on October 18, 1964 and she survives his passing.
Mr. Jacobs was a 1963 graduate of Okawville High School and then attended Ranken Tech in St. Louis. He was a forklift operator for Copper/B-Line in Highland, until his retirement in 2013. Roland was a former member of the Okawville Jaycees and was a volunteer with the Okawville Community Youth Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time in the woods and hunting.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Cheryl Jacobs of Okawville; two sons, Dean Jacobs of Okawville and Dan Jacobs and wife Beverly of Addieville; three grandchildren, Vanessa Birchler and husband Mike of Okawville, Malia Rodgers and husband Blake of New Baden, and Lacie Jacobs of Centralia; two great grandchildren, Oliver and Adeline; a brother, Elroy Jacobs and wife Janet of Homosassa, Fla.; a sister, Carol Grotelueschen of Detroit, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends and his beloved puppy, Buddy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tad Jacobs and his father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Audrey Lilienkamp.
In accordance with the wishes of Roland and his family, cremation was performed.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the St. Paul Cemetery in Nashville.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
