Mobile Home Falls Off Trailer, Blocks IL-15 East of Nashville

Edit: At approximately 6:15 p.m., both lanes of Route 15 at the crash site were
back open and the power lines have been repaired

The Illinois State Police responded to a wind related traffic situation on IL-15 on the afternoon of Friday, January 26, when a mobile home being transported by truck blew off of the vehicle moving it, blocking the road and knocking down powerlines.

The mobile home was being towed by a 2004 International Tractor Trailer, driven by Joseph Taylor, 30, of Iuka.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., the vehicle and mobile home were traveling westbound on IL-15, approximately one mile east of US 51, when a heavy gust of wind caught the open faced home and blew it off of Taylor’s trailer.

The mobile home came to rest blocking both lanes of traffic on IL-15, and struck several utility poles, causing power lines to fall into the roadway.

There were no injuries due to the crash, but due to the blockage and power lines in the roadway, traffic was routed around the site of the crash, at Riddle Road on the east side, and at Old State Road on the west side, until the crash was cleaned up, about two-and-a-half-hours.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. Friday, the Illinois State Police issued a message that the crash was cleaned up and the road was once again open to traffic.
