Elberta Davis, 77, of Hoyleton, died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia at 4:01 p.m., on Saturday, January 27.
Elberta was born on December 4, 1940 in Pemiscot, Mo., to Raymond Lowe and Lucille (James) Lowe. She married Coram J. Davis of Hoyleton on October, 6, 1967, in East St. Louis. Elberta worked as a church secretary and was a member of Springerton Community Church. She was an Esther in the Missionettes.
Survivors include her husband Coram Davis; sons, Coram W. Davis of DuQuoin, Paul Davis and wife Sandra of Hoyleton, and Andy Davis and wife Holly of Centralia; sister, Sue Summers Cox of Beebe, Ark.; grandchildren, Amber Carter and husband Aaron, Ashley Davis, Justin Davis and special friend Allison Klie, Megan Moore and husband Wes, Ethan Davis, Tiffany Davis and Grant Davis; great-grandchildren, Emma and Ava Carter, Jett Fox and Aalyiah and Jordan Joyner.
Elberta was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Elbert Lowe and two sisters: Iris Lavy and JoAnn Pruitt.
A Homegoing Celebration for Elberta Davis will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018, at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, with Marvin McCormick officiating.
Burial will be at the Zion Evangelical UCC Cemetery in Hoyleton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, with additional visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
