Okawville Math Teacher, Danford, Announces Intent To Retire

The West Washington County Community Unit District #10 Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting on the evening of Thursday, January 25.
Under Correspondence, Superintendent Scott Fuhrhop read a letter from Doris Danford regarding her intent to retire effective after the 2017-2018 school year.
Danford has been a math teacher at Lebanon and Okawville High School for a total of 45 years.
The board reviewed the closed session minutes from July to December 2017 to determine those to declare open minutes.
After the review, the board approved to declare the minutes from August to December 2017 as open minutes.
The board discussed the Senior trip to Washington D.C. and New York.
The trip is to take place April 1 to April 6.
The board approved the Teacher Aide Reduction in Force (RIF) list for 2017-2018.
In the Principal’s Report, Grade School Principal Leon Spinka informed the board that they held a crisis management plan meeting.
High School Principal Keith Senior reported that it will be a busy spring for students as standardized testing dates are quickly approaching.
The Aspire, which prepares students for the ACT, will be taken by students in the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth graders.
Students from the seventh and eighth grades will also be taking the state mandated PARCC test.
The PSAT will be taken by ninth and tenth graders to prepare students for the SAT.
Finally, the eleventh graders will be taking the SAT in April.
As a result of closed session, the board accepted the resignation of Tanya Jansen as head volleyball coach and the retirement of high school math teacher, Doris Danford.
