NCHS Student Gallery
Still Life By Josie Woodrome

In this edition of The Nashville News, we are proud to introduce a new feature – The NCHS Student Gallery.
The first piece of art we’re showing is a still life by NCHS Freshman and Art I student Josie Woodrome.
Students were asked to choose basic everyday objects and arrange them for drawing. They learned how to using graphite pencils to create the illusion of form.
Josie chose to draw a pitcher, an apple, a pear, and surrounded it with fabric. The piece is a 9×12 inch graphite pencil still life drawing.
Describing her piece, Woodrome stated that she was, “learning to draw from objects directly in front of you. I chose to draw a pitcher with an apple and pear on fabric.”
Woodrome added, “during this drawing I focused on bringing out the bold shadows and blending my values.”
The Nashville News plans to continue this feature in order to help bring attention to art produced at NCHS. The students and pieces shown are selected by art department faculty and students.
