ACT/SAT Test Prep Workshops:

NCHS teachers will be hosting ACT/SAT Test Prep Workshops to assist students in preparing for these assessments.
Subject, dates, and times are listed below. Students are to sign up outside the main office if interested in attending.

* Wednesday, February 7 – English/Reading 3:30-4:30 PM

 

College Representative Visits at NCHS:

Students who are interested in visiting with college representatives should come to the Counseling Office to sign up. Currently scheduled college representative visits:

 * Blackburn College – February 28

* Southern Illinois University-Carbondale – March 21

FARM CREDIT ILLINOIS SCHOLARSHIP (Thirty $2,000 Scholarships) –

Applicants must be high school seniors who plan to major in a career in agriculture. To find the application or learn more about the scholarship, visit http://www.farmcreditil.com/Pages/default.aspx Deadline for this scholarship is February 28, 2018.

NASHVILLE LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP –

This scholarship is open to all seniors planning to advance their education at a college or university in the fall. Criteria considered for this scholarship will be class rank and GPA, financial need, any honors received, and future career plans. To apply for this scholarship, pick up an application in the guidance office. The application must then be returned to the guidance office by February 28, 2018.

KASKASKIA COLLEGE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS –

Over a 100 scholarships are available to seniors planning on attending Kaskaskia College. Scholarships range from $250-$1000. A completed FAFSA is required. Application deadline for all scholarships is March 1, 2018. ILLINOIS AMVETS SERVICE SCHOLARSHIPS (Up to $1,000) –

Multiple scholarships are available to seniors who have parents or grandparents who are in or were in the military. If you meet this criteria, go to http://www.ilamvets.org/ WhatWeDo/Programs/Scholarships/tabid/120/Default.aspxscholarships to get more information. Deadline to apply is March 1.

SWIC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS ($500-5,000) –

These scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who are planning on attending Southwestern Illinois College. There are over 250 scholarships available offering over $250,000 in total. Only one application is needed to apply for all scholarships. To learn more or to find the application, visit https://www.swic.edu/ community/foundation/. The deadline to apply is March 1.

THE ILLINOIS ODD FELLOW-REBEKAH SCHOLARSHIP AWARD (10 -15 $1,000 Scholarships) –

Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA or greater. Students with financial needs will be given priority. For further information or to find to application, go to https://ioof-il.org/. Deadline is March 1, 2018.

NATIONAL DEFENSE TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION ($1500-$4000;

Up to 6 scholarships available) – Scholarships are open to any student that is a resident of Illinois or Missouri. Priority will be given to those students pursuing a degree in business, transportation logistics, or physical distribution. ILLINOIS FEDERATION OF BUSINESS WOMEN’S CLUBS SCHOLARSHIPS ($2,000) –

Applicants must be female, United States citizens and resident of Illinois, a GPA of at least 2.8, and plan to attend an university or trade school in the fall. A short essay is required along with 2 letters of recommendation. The winner will compete in the Young Professional competition at the IFBWC state convention. PEOPLES NATIONAL BANK SCHOLARSHIP

(Multiple Scholarships Available: $500) – Applicants must either be customers of the bank or have parents/ guardians that are customers there. Applicants must also have maintained a “B” average throughout their high school career and exhibited positive leadership and character in school and community activities. To apply, pick up an application in the guidance office. Application deadline is March 2, 2018.

ARMY ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA, minimum ACT composite of 19 or minimum SAT of 1000 (math/verbal), and meet physical standards. Scholarship can be used at a college or university that has an AROTC program. Application must be postmarked by 11:59 pm EST, March 4, 2018. KATHERYN G. HANSEN SCHOLARSHIP ($500)

Applicants must be seniors in high school planning to attend college in the fall, must also be pursuing a career in an office professional, secretarial, or business-related field, must also have involvement in co-curricular and community activities, demonstrate academic achievement, and be a resident of Illinois. Preference will be given to applicants planning on attending the University of Illinois. ILLINOIS ELKS CHILDREN’S CARE PROGRAM ($500-$3,000)

Applicants must be enrolled or looking to enroll in a degree program in physical or occupational therapy. Applicants must also have a “B” grade point average and maintain this grade point average throughout the program. For more information on how to apply for this scholarship, visit http://illinoiselksccc.org/forms.html . Deadline for turning in the application is March 9, 2018.

FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIPS

Multiple scholarships awarded both nationally and locally. These scholarships are awarded to those students interested in pursuing a degree in agriculture. Last year, a total of $17,500 was awarded between all scholarships given. To learn more about the different scholarship opportunities or to apply, visit the Agriculture Future of America website. Deadline for scholarships is March 14, 2018.

ACT Testing Dates:

The next ACT test with open registration is April 14. Registration is due by March 9. Additional ACT testing dates are June19 and July 14. Registration is typically due 5 weeks before the testing date. Students may register at www.ACTStudent.org. Our high school code is 143-110.

SAT Testing Dates:

The next SAT test with open registration is March 10. Registration is due February 9. Additional SAT testing dates are May 5 and June 2. Registration is typically due 5 weeks before the testing date. Students may register at www.collegeboard.org. Our high school code is 143-110.
