John Giovanetti Jr.
Mr. John Giovanetti Jr. of Nashville, departed this life at his residence on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:14 P.M. He had attained the age of 88 years, 8 months and 3 days.
John was born in Chicago, on July 7, 1929 the son of John Sr. and Elizabeth (nee Hefferle) Giovanetti. He was united in marriage to Barbara Lacer in Evansville, Ind., on April 2, 1949 and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2017.
Mr. Giovanetti was a member of the Nashville Assembly of God Church. He served as a social worker for St. Clair County, until his retirement. He enjoyed listening to music and he especially loved his family.
Left to mourn his passing are his five children, Rebecca O’Connor and husband Dennis of DuQuoin, Tudy Hoffman and husband Edward of Nashville, John Matthew Giovanetti and wife Joy of Branson, Mo., Gina Giovanetti and life partner Scott Kilgore of Steelville, and Diane Brink of O’Fallon; seven grandchildren, Shannan Jahn, Meagan Matthews, Joseph Hoffman, Andrew Giovanetti, Sarah McGuire, and Kevin and Anthony Kessler; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Gray and Norma Warner and husband Bert all of Evansville; two brothers, David Giovanetti and wife Diane of Connecticut and Lawrence Giovanetti and wife Joann of West Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Giovanetti.
In accordance with the wishes of the family, cremation was performed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Nashville Assembly of God Church on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Matt Craft officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
