One Month Later – NCHS Students, Faculty Respond To School Violence

NCHS Students attended a morning prayer session put on by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) on Wednesday, March 14, one month following the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shootings in February.

On Valentine’s Day, Wednesday February 14, a mass shooting occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
A month after that tragedy, on Wednesday, March 14, high school students across the country made their voices heard, some holding vigils, some protests, and some by walking out of classes at midday.
At Nashville Community High School, there was an all-school, student-led assembly, where there were performances, students speaking, and even plans being made for new programs (a peer mentoring program is in the works).
“I feel like in those 30 minutes, my students learned a lot more, took in a lot more, than they would have if they had walked out,” NCHS Principal Mark Begando told the school board in his report on Monday, March 19.
