Local Swimmers Compete At Heartland Area Championships
Sophie Schubert, Hazel Konkel, and Scarlet Konkel recently competed in the Heartland Area Championships for swimming. The swim meet was held March 16th-18th at the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center in Edwardsville, IL. They swim for the Centralia Rec Center YMCA (CRCY) Barracudas. Before the short course season begins, Area times are determined by the YMCA executive committee. Any swimmer that achieves an Area time for an event throughout the season, qualifies them for this end of the season meet. There were 25 teams throughout Illinois and Missouri in attendance.
