NCHS Student Gallery “Large Mouth Bass” By Devan Sullivan
This week’s NCHS Student Gallery piece is “Large Mouth Bass”, a ceramic sculpture made in Art II by sophomore Devan Sullivan.
The piece is a six-by-three-by-seven-inch vessel with a removable lid. It’s been modeled to look like a bass with its mouth open, and the lid looks like a smaller fish. It’s been glazed both inside and out.
“Fishing is something I enjoy and take a lot of pride in,” Sullivan wrote. “The ceramic glaze that I chose is similar to the colors found on the bass I like to fish.”
“This was my first time working with ceramics,” Sullivan continued. “ At first, I did not think it was turning out the way I had hoped. Once it came out of the kiln, I instantly loved it.”
