NCHS Track Opens Up Outdoor Season

The NCHS boys and girls track teams began the outdoor track season this past week with a home meet on March 22. No team scores were kept at the meet. The boys teams competing were Nashville, Okawville, Mater Dei, Murphysboro, and Christ Our Rock Lutheran. The girls teams competing were Nashville, Mater Dei, Christ Our Rock Lutheran, and Okawville.
The Hornettes track team came away from the meet with twelve first place finishes. The Hornettes dominated the field events as Sydney Schnitker finished first in both the long jump and triple jump. Carli Hoffman finished first in the shot put, Kylie Kozuszek finished first in pole vault and Josie Middleton finished first in the discus.
In the running events, Nashville finished with six first place finishes. Grace Maschhoff, Jaylyn Bower, Kiley Heidel, and Sabrina Kollbaum finished first in the 4X800M Relay. Kylie Kozuszek, Raqui Elliott, Annabelle Epplin, and Destyn Hauser finished first in the 4X100M relay. The Hornettes also won the 4X400M relay with the team of Kylie Kozuszek, Kollbaum, Maschhoff, and Jadah Heidel. Kiley Heidel won the 400M Dash, Jadah Heidel won the 300M Hurdles, Kollbaum won the 100M Hurdles, and Bower crossed the line first in the 1600M Run.
The boys team finished with ten first place finishes. Jackson Aulds finished first in the 110M High Hurdles, 300M Hurdles, the long jump, and as a member of the 4X200M Relay team. Joining Aulds on the 4X200M Relay team was Theron Hausner, Tyson Huge, and Daymeon Baugh. Daymeon Baugh finished first in the triple jump, while Graham Speedie finished first in the pole vault. Derek Kirgan finished first in the shot put. Landon Davis was the first to cross the line in the 3200M run, and Tabor Kozuszek finished first in the 400M Dash. The final first place of the meet for Nashville was from the 4X400M Relay team of Derek Baugh, Davis, Caleb Zgonina, and Tabor Kozuszek.
