Host Families Sought For Japanese And Korean Exchange Students

Experience the richness of the world, without even leaving home!
This summer, Illinois needs host families for 55 Japanese and seven Korean exchange students.
Students range from 12 to 17 years of age and are matched to a youth in your home by gender, age and common interests. These eager kids want to experience American culture, make friends and improve their English by staying with your family.
Families must pass a background check, have a youth in the home with a similar age, gender and interest as the exchange student, and have an interest in other cultures.
Students arrive July 25 and return August 20.
You don’t need to plan anything special during their stay; they just want to experience everyday American life.
Host families are also needed for the adult chaperons! Host families for them are not required to have children within the household. For 4-H members interested in traveling abroad…hosting is a great way to begin to get a feel for that experience.

Want a longer hosting opportunity? If you have hosted in the past and would like a longer hosting opportunity, there are “year-long” opportunities for international high school students interested in spending a year attending high school and experiencing life in America. These students normally arrive in August and return home the following June. If you are interested but have additional questions, please contact Miriam Rosenbohm.
