Local 4-H Youth To Participate In A Day Of Service On April 27

True Leaders In Service

This April, as part of True Leaders in Service and National Volunteer Appreciation Month, 4-H members across the nation will pledge their hands to larger service – leading positive change that empowers their peers and their communities.
True Leaders in Service will officially kick-off the first day of April, and culminate with the National 4-H Day of Service on Saturday, April 28.
Join the thousands of 4-H members who will venture out into their communities to do what 4-H members do best: lead in service to tackle community challenges and help meet the needs of others.
Washington County 4-H members will work together in service projects for senior citizens and “Kindness Rocks.”
Participants should bring chapstick, travel size bottles of hand lotion, travel size packets of tissue, combs, or warm socks for seniors living in nursing homes and hospitals in Washington County.
They will also have an opportunity to help decorate mugs and placemats for these seniors to brighten their day. For “Kindness Rocks” youth can decorate a rock with a kind word or message of inspiration to place in the community. You never know when one kind word will brighten someone’s day or outlook!
4-H families should RSVP to 327-8881 by April 23 to ensure that we have enough space and supplies.
University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, contact the extension office at (618)327-8881.
