Claude Bud Smith, Jr., age 77, of Sparta, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. in Randolph County Care Center, Sparta.
Bud was born on November 16, 1940 in Nashville, a son to Claude Bud and Naomi (Brandhurst) Smith. On June 6, 1965, he married Sandra “Sandy” K. Smith in Nashville, and she preceded him in death on February 16, 2015. Bud was the owner of the IGA store in Sparta, and a sales agent for Colonial Life/Accident insurance. He was a veteran of the National Guard and a member of Calvary Church, Sparta. He loved bird dogs, hunting quail, fishing trout and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Mike (Renee) Smith of Coulterville; one daughter Debbie (Dave) Hochmuth of Sparta; four grandchildren, Kailey (Cole) Baumann, Cody (Levi) Craig, Justin Krantz and DJ (Heather) Hochmuth; and four great-grandchildren, Grayson Hochmuth, Carter Bumann, Maverick Craig and Kason Bumann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandy Smith; and one sister, Phyllis Smith.
Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Church, Sparta, on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Chris Scott officiating. Interment will be at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta.
Friends may call at Calvary Church, Sparta, on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
