Carmen Aline Buescher

Mrs. Carmen Aline Buescher of Okawville, departed this life in the Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Nashville, on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 6:17 P.M. She had attained the age of 97 years, 5 months and 13 days.
Carmen was born in Carterville, on November 7, 1920 the daughter of Victor and Elva (nee McNew) Stocks. She was united in marriage to Oliver F. “Bud” Buescher on September 30, 1944 in St. Louis and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2010.
Mrs. Buescher was a faithful member of the Okawville United Methodist Church where she had served on various boards. She was also a member of, and former officer in the Women’s Society of Christian Service. Carmen was a homemaker as well as holding down various jobs over the years. She had worked as a telephone operator, school cook, baby sitter, co-owner of a paint store and as a linotype operator for the Okawville Times. She was very artistic and enjoyed doing all types of arts and crafts including, tote painting, ceramics, crocheting and needlepoint. Carmen also enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go camping and trout fishing. She also loved going for bicycle rides. She was a member of the Okawville Ladies in Red and always looked forward to going on their various outings.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Steven Buescher and wife Audrey of Nashville and Karen Holtgrewe and husband Gary of Okawville; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hoover and husband TJ, Joshua Buescher, Chris Buescher and wife Kim, Alan Holtgrewe and wife Jennifer and Angela Portugal and husband Stephen; eleven great grandchildren; Eli, Isiah and Rylan Hoover, Grace, Adele, Camdyn and Whitney Buescher, Katlyn and Emily Holtgrewe and Mikaela and Jocelyn Portugal; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Stocks of Rochester, N.Y., Della Finke of Centralia, and Mabel Niemann of St. Louis, Mo.; nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Stocks; a sister, June Hall Stampini; four sisters-in-law, Minta Ellerbusch, Ethel Horne, Isabel Cole and Shirley Austin; and a nephew, Billy Ray Hall.
In accordance with the wishes of Carmen and her family, cremation was performed.
Memorial services will be held from the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Jerry Bennett officiating. Interment of ashes will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Okawville.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
