The Hornets boys track team took home first place at the Greenville Relays on April 20.

The Nashville Hornets track team finished up a busy week in which they won the Greenville Relays, while finishing second in the NIT as well as the Tri-County Invitational.
The Hornets began the week in the Boys NIT held on April 17 at NCHS. Seven schools competed for the championship, with Freeburg coming out on top with 189 points. The Hornets finished second with 134 points, followed by Wesclin in third, The Hornets won four events at the meet. Brandon Schnitker set a new meet record in the 800M run with a time of 1:57.26.. Tabor Kozuszek won the 400M dash with a time of 52.93. The 4X800M relay team of Kozuszek, Schnitker, Gavin Love, and Caleb Zgonina finished five seconds ahead of the pack to take the win. The Hornets final first place finish came from Gavyn Lietz in the 110M Hurdles with a time of 16.37.
The Hornets 4X200M relay team of Jackson Aulds, Lietz, Tyson Huge, and Daymeon Baugh finished runner up in the 4X200M Relay, while the team of Schnitker, Kozuszek, Love, and Zgonina finished second in the 4X400M Relay. Lietz brought home second in the Pole Vault, while Baugh finished second in the triple jump. Derek Kirgan finished second in the Discus.
The Hornets won the Greenville Relays on April 20 with 116 points. Greenville finished in second, followed by Vandalia, Hillsboro, Mater Dei, and Pana.
Nashville won seven events. Aulds and Lietz won long jump. Kozuszek and Baugh won high jump. Kirgan and Isaac Sexe won the shot put. The 4X800M Relay team of Kozuszek, Love, Zgonina, and Schnitker crossed the line in first place. Baugh, Zgonina, Love, and Schnitker won the Distance Medley. The Hurdle Relay was won by Aulds and Lietz. The final first place finish was in the 4X400M Relay from Kozuszek, Love, Zgonina, and Schnitker.
The Hornets final meet of the week was the Tri-County Invitational, which was held as Wesclin this year due to construction at Central High School. The Hornets again finished in the runner up position as Central took the win with 137 points. Nashville finished with 118 points, followed by Greenville in third with 99 points.
Nashville finished with just two first place finishes. Schnitker won the 800M run with a time of 1:59.31, and the 4X800M Relay team of Schnitker, Zgonina, Love, and Kozuszek won with a time of 8:46.64.
Lietz finished second in three different events. Lietz finished second in the 110M High Hurdles, the 300M Hurdles, and the Triple Jump. Baugh finished second in the High Jump, while Kirgan finished second in the Discus. Kozuszek finished second in the 400M Dash, and was a part of the 4X400M Relay along with Schnitker, Zgonina, and Love who finished in second.
