Hornettes Win Tri-County Invitational

The NCHS Girls Track team won the Greenville Relays on April 20, as well as the Tri-County Invitational on April 23. The Nashville Hornettes track team finished up another busy week in which they finished second in the Mascoutah Invitational, won the Greenville Relays, and won the Tri-County Invitational.
The Hornettes were just edged by Mascoutah in their first meet of the week at the Mascoutah Invitational. Mascoutah won the meet with 103 points, but Nashville was right on their heels with 96 points.
Jadah Heidel broke the school record in the 100M High Hurdles with a time of 16.83 breaking the school record held my Melanie Rhine. Jadah Heidel also won the 300M Hurdles, and was third in the Triple Jump. Sydney Schnitker won both the Long Jump, and Triple Jump at the meet. Josie Middleton was second in the Discus, and Kortney Stroud finished third in the Discus.
The Hornettes finished with 110 points on April 20 to win the Greenville Relays. Pana finished second with 77 points, followed by Greenville with 72 points, Hillsboro with 66 points, Mater Dei with 52 points, and Vandalia with 13 points.
The Hornettes won six events at the meet. Stroud and Middleton won the discus. The 800 Medley Relay was won by Destyn Hausner, Raqui Elliott, Kayla Ivey, and Jadah Heidel. The 4X800M Relay was won by Grace Maschhoff, Kylie Kozuszek, Kiley Heidel, and Sabrina Kollbaum. The 4X100M Relay was won by Autumn Evans, Ivey, Elliott, and Hausner. The Distance Medley was won by Delaney Varel, Brittnie Bartling, Havalen Pierce, and Jaylyn Bower. The Hurdles were won by Jadah Heidel, and Kollbaum.
The girls team was back in action on April 23 as they bested six other teams to win the Tri-County Invitational. Nashville finished 129 points, which was 31 points ahead of second place Central. Wesclin finished third, followed by Greenville, Okawville, Mater Dei, and Christ Our Rock.
Nashville finished with four first place finishes. Varel won the 400M Dash with a time of 1:07.10 and was a part of the 4X400M Relay team  that finished in first place along with Kozuszek, Kollbaum, and Jadah Heidel. There time was 4:26.43. Heidel also finished first in the 100M High Hurdles where she broke her own school record with a time of 16.69. Heidel broke the school record on April 18 at the Mascoutah Invitational. The final first place finish came in the 4X800M Relay from Kozuszek, Maschhoff, Kollbaum, and Bower.
The Hornettes had a plethora of second place finishes. Maschhoff finished second in the 1600M Run. Jadah Heidel finished second in the 300M Hurdles and the Triple Jump. Hausner finished second in the High Jump. Hoffman finished second in the Shot Put. Finishing third for Nashville was Kozuszek in the 400M Dash, Bartling in the 800M Run, and Middleton in the Discus.
