Jr. Hornet Track In Full Swing

The Nashville Middle School boys track team is well into their season as they have competed in five meets thus far. The Jr. Hornets opened their home schedule on April 9 against St. Ann, Centralia, and Okawville. The Jr. Hornets have also had meets at Waterloo, Pinckneyville 204, Wesclin, and DuQuoin.
The Jr. Hornets opened their season with a home meet on April 9. The Jr. Hornets finished in first place ahead of Centralia, Okawville, and St. Ann.
Nashville had nine first place finishes at the meet. Hayden Robinson won both the Shot Put and the High Jump at the meet. Robinson threw 35’11” in the Shot Put, and jumped 4’8” in the High Jump. Colton Wolters won the Discus with a throw of 86’8”. Ben Reid won the Long Jump and the 8th Grade 100M Dash. Reid won the Long Jump with a jump of 15’2”. Reid won the 8th Grade 100M Dash with a time of 13.4 seconds. The 7th Grade 4X200M Relay team of Rylan Hammer, Aidan Heiman, Seldon Kozuszek, and Carson Cook finished first with a time fo 1:57.7. Hammer also won the 1600M Run with a time of 5:34. Kozuszek won the 200M Dash with a time of 29.5 seconds. The 4X400M Relay team of Ray Habeck, Hammer, Cook, and Reid won with a time of 4:22.
Finishing second for Nashville at the meet was Saxton Hoepker in the Discus, Robinson in the Long Jump and 8th Grade 100M Dash, Hammer in the Hurdles, and Habeck in the 1600M Run.
Third place finishers for Nashville were: Wolters in the Shot Put, Cook in the Hurdles, and Heiman in the 800M Run.
The Jr. Hornets were back in action on April 10, in Waterloo.
There was just one first place finish for Nashville at the event. The team of Hammer, Heiman, Cook, and Kozuszek won the 7th Grade 4X200M Relay with a time of 1:59.
Reid, Habeck, Cook, and Hammer finished second in the 4X400M Relay. Robinson finished third in the High Jump. Habeck finished third in the 1600M Run, and Trey Reinburg finished third in the 800M Run.
The Jr. Hornets next meet was on April 13 at the Pinckneyville 204 Invitational. Nashville placed ninth out of 24 teams.
Wolters was the only first place finish for the Jr. Hornets with a  throw of 117’9” in Discus.
Robinson finished fifth in the Long Jump with a jump of 14’10”.
Nashville was back in action on April 19 at Wesclin.
Wolters again won the Discus with a throw of 108’. Reid won the 400M Dash with a time of 1:02. Robinson cleared 5’ to win the High Jump. The 4X400M Relay team over Reid, Reinburg, Cook, and Habeck won the race with a time of 4:29.
Reid finished second in Long Jump. Robinson finished second in Shot Put. Habeck finished second in the 1600M Run.
Third place finishers for Nashville were Robinson in the Long Jump, and Wolters in the Shot Put.
The Jr. Hornets then competed in the Conference Meet at DuQuoin on April 20. The Jr. Hornets finished sixth place in the meet. Murphysboro won the meet.
Wolters was Nashville’s only first place finisher as he won the Discus with a throw of 105’4”.
The Jr. Hornets had three third place finishes at the meet. Habeck finished third in the 1600M Run. Habeck was also a part of the 4X400M Relay team along with Reid, Reinburg, and Cook that finished third. Reinburg and Cook then teamed up with Kozuszek and Heiman to finish third in the 7th Grade 4X200M Relay.
Reid finished fourth in the 400M Dash. Hoepker finished fourth in the Discus. Wolters finished fifth in the Shot Put.
