Kozuszek And Konkel Qualify For State

St. Ann  boys and girls track teams competed in the SIJHSAA Region 5 Regional which was held at NCHS on April 28.
The St. Ann girls team finished fifth as a team as a team with 43 points, just behind Aviston and St. Boniface Edwardsville who tied for third with 44 points.
St. Ann had two State Qualifiers.
To qualify for the state competition an athlete must either receive first or second in their event or achieve the qualifying time or distance.
Talanie Kozuszek placed third , but qualified with the time of 13.25  in the 8th grade 100M. She also jumped 4’8″ in the high jump placing 1st.
Ruby Konkel won the discus field event with a throw of 82′.0″
The St. Ann boys team did not have anyone qualify for State.
The small school state competition will be held at Herrin High School on May 12. Field events will begin at 10 a.m. with running events beginning at 11:30 a.m.
