Karen L. Moravec

Karen L. Moravec, 72, of Woodlawn,passed away at 10:50 A.M. May 2, 2018 at her residence. She was born July 3, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to Audrey Johnson. Karen married Ralph Moravec on November 24, 1962 at Saint James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her children, David Moravec and girlfriend, Vicky Butler of Ringwood, Mary Moravec of Richmond, and Susan Moravec of McHenry; grandchildren, Justin Moravec, Jarrett Moravec, Holly Moravec, Heather Moravec, Jasmine Maher and husband, Jordan, and Michael Tackitt; and great-grandchildren, Jayden Maher and Mathew Moravec.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her grandmother, Matilda “Curly” Johnson, who raised her.
Karen worked as a school bus driver and cooked at KC Hall in DuBois. She was a member of Ladies Solidarity and was very active at Saint Michael Catholic Church in Radom. She enjoyed quilting and cooking in her spare time. Karen’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She never missed acknowledging a loved ones birthday or special occasion. Karen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Visitation will be held Monday, May 7, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Rosary Service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Father Oliver Nwachukwu officiating. Memorials may be made in Karen’s honor to a charity of the donor’s choice.
