Hornettes Brave The Elements At Conference

Grace Maschhoff was part of the 4X800M Relay team that finished first place during a rainy SIRR Conference Meet on May 3.
It was a wet night at the Southern Illinois River to River Conference Track Meet this year as 12 teams vied for a conference title. The Hornettes battled heavy rain throughout the meet to come away with second place in the Mississippi Division. Nashville finished with 107.5 points. DuQuoin won the Mississippi Division with 187 points. Herrin won the Ohio Division with 140 points.
The Hornettes finished with five first place finishes at the meet. Josie Middleton won the Discus with a throw of 104’3”. Sydney Schnitker won the Triple Jump with a jump of 34’3”. The 4X800M Relay team of Kiley Heidel, Kylie Kozuszek, Grace Maschhoff, and Sabrina Kollbaum crossed the line with a time of 10:50.53 to win the race. The team of Destyn Hausner, Kayla Ivey, Raqui Elliott, and Schnitker won the 4X200M Relay with a time of 1:57.96. The final first place finish came from Jadah Heidel in the 300M Hurdles with a time of 50.94.
Finishing second at the meet for Nashville was Schnitker in the Long Jump, and Hausner in the 200M Dash.
The 4X400M Relay team of Kollbaum, Kiley Heidel, Delaney Varel, and Jadah Heidel  crossed the line in third place. Jadah Heidel also finished third in the 100M Hurdles.
