Washington County Hospital, SSM Sign Management Agreement

A management agreement long in the planning was signed at midday on Wednesday, May 9, between Washington County Hospital and SSM Health of Illinois.
After many years of working together in an affiliate relationship, “I’m very, very thrilled to announce that SSM Health in Illinois and Washington County Hospital are planning to extend their relationship,” said Kerry Swanson, CEO of SSM Health, Illinois Region.

“In today’s health care environment, it is important for independent hospitals to establish alignment with a strong system,” said Nancy Newby, Washington County Hospital President and CEO.
“With this management agreement, our hospital remains independent, yet we gain the resources of SSM Health to assist in guiding our future,” Newby continued, “Our priority is to ensure quality health care is provided in our community for the long term future.”
The Washington County Hospital Board selected SSM Health because of the long established working relationship between the two organizations and SSM’s commitment to sustaining health care services in the local community.
“This is a very exciting time,” said WCH Board President Matthew Bierman, just before signing the agreement. “this is going to move us into the future for a long, long time.”
“We are very proud to have been selected as Washington County Hospital’s management partner by the Board,” said Swanson. “We believe we are better, together. We look forward to working with this talented team to position Washington County Hospital for the future.”
