Okawville Village Board Sets Road Closures for Heritage Days

The Village of Okawville Board met on the evening of Tuesday, May 29 for their regular monthly meeting.
To begin the meeting, the board approved Ordinance #552 regarding the Annual General Fund Appropriation and Ordinance #553 regarding the Annual Operations and Maintenance Fund Appropriation.
In regards to Heritage Days, the board approved to close West Walnut Street from Front Street to Elkton Street, West St. Louis Street to Franklin Street and Franklin Street from West St. Louis Street to West High Street.
The road closures will be effective June 8th-10th, with June 8th being reserved for set up.
Under Streets and Sidewalks, the board approved to hire Rollie Excavating to complete the extension of Hanover Street to Immanuel Drive and west on Schumacher Street at a cost not to exceed $20,000 for labor only.
The board also approved to hire Rooters Asphalt for asphalt maintenance on the Senior Center and Fire House parking lots at a cost not to exceed $1,100.
Under Police and Liquor, the board approved five video gaming permits for Road Ranger, Circle K and American Legion Post 233, as well as three video gaming permits for CBI and Plum Creek Golf Course.
Under Personnel and Property, the board discussed that the Personnel and Property committee members reviewed applications that were sent in for the position of Utility Superintendent, with interviews scheduled in the future.
After a brief closed executive session, the board approved to hire the most qualified candidate as the Utility Superintendent.
The board discussed a legal situation in regards to property zoning conflict.
The board received $632.14 in fines from the circuit clerk this month.
The board received $4,345.01 in video gaming receipts this month.
