IHSA Classifications Released For 2018-19 School Year

The IHSA Classifications for the 2018-19 school year have been released. There are no changes for Nashville and Okawville.
Nashville will be Class 2A in baseball, boys basketball, girls basketball, softball, and volleyball. Nashville will compete in Class 1A in boys and girls cross country, competitive dance, boys and girls golf, scholar bowl, as well as boys and girls track. 
Okawville will compete in Class 1A in all athletic events. 
Nashville will enter the 2018-19 school year with the second lowest enrollment in the Mississippi Division. Nashville’s listed enrollment in 399 students. Sparta is the smallest with 349 students. Carterville is the biggest school with 606 students. Anna-Jonesboro’s listed enrollment is 510 students. DuQuoin ‘s enrollment is 451 students, and Pinckneyville’s enrollment is listed at 433
Elsewhere in the SIRR Conference Mississippi Divsion, Pinckneyville, Sparta, and DuQuoin will play in the same classes as Nashville. Anna-Jonesboro is in the same classes except for boys and girls track where Anna-Jonesboro will compete in Class 2A. Carterville, the biggest school in the Mississippi Division will play in Class 3A in baseball, boys and girls basketball, softball, and volleyball. The Lions are Class 2A in boys golf, scholar bowl, and boys and girls track. The Lions will compete in Class 1A in boys and girls cross county, girls golf, and competitive dance.
One of the bigger changes this year, is Mater Dei being bumped up a class in girls basketball. The Lady Knights will compete in IHSA Class 3A next season.
