George Portz And Bluegrass Friends, Arts Council Volunteers Soldier On Through Downpour
The Summer Concert held on the evening of Thursday, June 28 was a wet one.
Ominous weather reports moved the show from the courthouse lawn to the Pavilion Across the Creek at Memorial Park.
Portz, RIGHT, had Quinn Cadieux, 8, of O’Fallon, come up to play fiddle with him.
The pavilion’s roof provided some cover as the rain came down, and George Portz and Blue Grass Friends took the stage.
As the show went on, the rain intensified and the concert became an “unplugged” one as water rolled in from sideways rain and torrents of water running down the hill behind the stage.
Portz and his band, ABOVE, moved in closer to the audience and played several more songs despite rain falling, wind blowing and lightning flashing.

The concert was cut short due to the weather, but not due to a lack of effort on the part of the performers or the production crew.
