Boys Track All-South Announced

The Southern Illinois Coaches Association released the Boys Track All-South team this past week, with four Hornet athletes named All-South. Hornets coach Tom Taylor was named the Class 1A Coach of the Year by the SICA. Taylor led the Hornets to their first conference championship in ten years, as well as their second consecutive Sectional Championship. Brandon Schnitker, Tabor Kozuszek, Daymeon Baugh, and Gavyn Lietz were all named All-South.
Schnitker followed up his runner-up finish in the 800M Run at the 2017 IHSA Class 1A State Track Meet, with another successful campaign. Schnitker advanced to the State Track Meet in four different events this season. Schnitker advanced to State in the 4X400M Relay, the 4X800M Relay, the 400M Dash, and the 800M Run. This season Schnitker finished in 4th Place in the finals of the 800M Run. Schnitker also was the Conference Champion in the 3200M Run.
Kozuszek also advanced to State in four different events. Kozuszek qualified for State in the 4X800M Relay, the 4X400M Relay, the High Jump, and the 400M Dash. Kozuszek was the conference champion in the High Jump.
Lietz advanced to State in four events as well. Lietz advanced to State in the Pole Vault, the 110M High Hurdles, the 300M Hurdles, and the Triple Jump. Lietz was the Sectional Champion in the Pole Vault, and the 110M High Hurdles.
Baugh qualified for State in the Triple Jump and the 4X400M Relay. Baugh was the Conference Champion and Sectional Champion in the Triple Jump.
