Mervin Shook
Mervin G. Shook, 91, of Centralia, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his home.
He was born on November 12, 1926 the son of Elmer and Minnie (Kruse) Shook in Centralia. He married Darline Thompson on February 26, 1954 in Flora, and she preceded him in death on September 4, 2013.
Survivors include his loving children, Larry Shook and wife Daphna of Centralia, Marla Cameron and husband Mark of Ashley; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece, and a nephew; and special caregiver.
Along with his wife of 59 years, Mervin was preceded in death by both his parents; sisters, Mildred Kugel, and Irene Shook; brothers, Chris Shook, and Clifford Shook; step-son, Gloyd David Koch.
Mervin was a Navy veteran who proudly served his country in WWII. Mervin was also recognized for his service at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital. Mervin was also a Mason. Mervin was a faithful member of the Friedens United Church of Christ. Mervin retired from the railroad as a fireman, car-man and maintenance worker.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia, with Rev. Stacy Tate officiating.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 13, 2018 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers or gift items, memorials may be made in Mervin’s honor to Friedens United Church of Christ or SSM Hospice.
