Start Dates For Fall Sports At NCHS
All student athletes must have a current physical and insurance card on file in the main office to participate in tryouts. Please call the main office to check physical date if unsure. The number for the office is (618) 327-8286.
There is a NEW website for all of the Hornet and Hornettes sports schedules, https://nchshornets.org.
Football:
Monday August 6: All players, freshmen through seniors, need to report to football locker room by 5 p.m. Players will need helmet, cleats, shorts, and t-shirt for the first day.
Girls Golf:
Monday August 6: Players will meet a 9 a.m. at the golf course pavilion.
Boys Golf:
Monday August 6: Players will meet at 7 a.m. at the golf course pavilion.
Volleyball:
Wednesday August 8: Freshmen- 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Assembly Hall. Sophomore through Seniors- 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Assembly Hall.
Thursday August 9: Freshmen- Off. Sophomores through Seniors- 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Assembly Hall.
Friday August 10: Freshmen- 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Assembly Hall. Sophomores to Seniors 5:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in Assembly Hall.
Cross Country:
Wednesday August 8: Runners are to meet at 7:30 a.m. in front of the Auditorium.
Girls Golf will be the first team to kick off the regular season as they look to defend their title in the Nashville Invitational Golf Tournament on August 16. Teams will tee off at 4 p.m.
Boys Golf will look to repeat last year’s success in which they won the SIRR Mississippi Division title and the IHSA Class 1A Okawville Regional when they tee off the season at the AJ McDonald’s Classic on August 18. Teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m. The Hornets first home match will be on August 23 as they take on Centralia at 4 p.m.
The NCHS Cross Country team will head to New Athens on August 20 for the New Athens Invitational where they will kick off the 2018 campaign. The race begins at 5 p.m.
The Hornette volleyball team will begin their season with a scrimmage on August 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Assembly Hall. The regular season will begin on August 23 at home against Washington County rival Okawville. The Freshmen match is slated to begin at 5:15 p.m. with JV and Varsity to follow.
The Hornet Football team will start the season at home this year as they take on the Carlyle Indians on August 24. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
