Mrs. Ruby Hanke of Okawville, departed this life at her residence on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. She had attained the age of 81 years, 11 months and 2 days.
Ruby was born in St. Louis, MO on August 23, 1936 the daughter of George and Frieda (nee Kaufmann) Herrmann. She was baptized in St. Louis and later confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville, IL. Ruby was united in marriage to Hugo A. Hanke on June 21, 1976 in Miami, OK and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2006.
Mrs. Hanke worked as a bank teller in St. Louis and other banks, then later at the First National Bank of Okawville until her retirement. After retiring from the bank, she cleaned and did laundry for others at the High Street Laundry in Okawville. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Okawville and she enjoyed helping out her friends and neighbors.
Left to mourn her passing is a son, Michael Hanke of Okawville; a step-son, Chuck Hanke of Centralia; a sister, Fern Campbell of Lenzburg, IL; a brother, Glen Herrmann and wife Mary Ellen of Belleville; several nieces and nephews as well as a whole host of friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Herrmann.
In accordance with the wishes of Ruby and her family, cremation was performed.
Memorial services will be held from the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Eric Wood officiating. Interment of ashes will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Okawville.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the service hour.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
