Edith Ottilia Kula

Edith Ottilia (nee Hulliung) Kula of rural Ashley, IL departed this life on November 21, 2018 and had attained the age of 83 years.

Edie was born in rural Mascoutah, IL on October 28, 1935, the daughter of Albert “Hap” and Edna (nee Christ) Hulliung.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Kula, Jr. on September 24, 1957 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL and he survives.

Edie was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma.  She devoted her days assisting her husband on the family farm throughout their 61 years of marriage.  She also enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, gardening, canning, and was an accomplished seamstress.  She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

Left to mourn her passing is her husband Joe Kula, Jr. of Ashley, IL; seven children, Jeff Kula and wife Cristy of Lincoln, NE, Sue Taylor of Nashville, TN, Mary Kellerman and husband Dallas of Belleville, IL, Jean Orr and husband Pete of Nashville, IL, Cherie Hammers and husband Karl of Rockvale, TN, Stephen Kula of rural Ashley, IL and Amy Kula of Chesterfield, MO; grandchildren, Evan Kula and fiancée Maddi Mittelstet, Bethany, Benjamin, Jordan, and Micah Taylor, Andrew Kellerman and wife Kelly, and Adrienne Kellerman and special friend Dustin Warfel, Kristin, Meghan, Alex, and Nicholas Orr, Lesli, Ariel, and Jesse Hammers, Jacob Kula, and Ruthie; great-grandson, Carson Kellerman; five brothers and sisters, Albert “Hap” Hulliung and wife Gloria, Joan Proffitt and husband Lloyd, Ronnie Hulliung and wife Sylvia, Danny Hulliung, and Carol Pfeffer and husband Larry; a sister-in-law, Mary Hund and Dick Evans; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Mary Kula; three brothers, Jerry, Richard and Stevie Hulliung; two sisters-in-law, Bobbi and Kay Hulliung; two brothers-in-law, Henry Kula and Jim Hund and a grandson in infancy, Stephen Orr.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Radom, IL on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 10 AM. Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley, IL on Friday from 5 PM until 8 PM and on Saturday from 7:30 AM until 9 AM.

The rosary will be recited at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley, IL on Friday at 7:30 PM.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Washington County Right to Life (Nashville, IL) or Evelyn’s House hospice care (St. Louis, MO) and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.

    She was a very sweet lady and pray you hold those memories close.
