Hornettes Win Thanksgiving Tournament

For the sixth time in tournament history, and the first time since the 2016-17 season, the Nashville Hornettes have won the Nashville Girls Thanksgiving Tournament.

The sixth tournament title is the most all-time in the tournament’s history. The Hornettes went through the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record. Nashville defeated Mascoutah, Benton, and Mt. Vernon in pool play, before defeating Collinsville in the Championship. Wesclin won the seventh place game. Okawville won the fifth place game, and Benton won the third place game.
Nashville kicked off the season on a high note as they dominated Mascoutah in their first game of the season. Nashville took the lead early and never looked back as they downed the Indians 55-21 on November 19.
The Hornettes scored early and often in the first quarter, while limiting what Mascoutah could no offensively. Libby Ahlers scored eleven points in the first quarter alone as Nashville rushed out to a 20-2 lead after the first period of play. The onslaught continued in the second as Mascoutah never really got close. Nashville led 33-11 at halftime, and 49-21 after three quarters. The Hornettes would hold Mascoutah scoreless in the fourth quarter taking the win 55-21.
