Four games in a five day span was not a problem for the Hornets as Nashville is still unbeaten five games into the 2018-19 season. The Hornets defeated Columbia, Wesclin, and Mascoutah to win the Wesclin Tip-Off Classic, before defeating Metro-East Lutheran in the First Annual Scott Credit Union Shootout, held at Edwardsville High School. The Hornets record is 5-0. Nashville is back in action on December 7 as they travel to take on Anna-Jonesboro. The Hornets first home game of the year will be December 8, when they host Gibault.
The Hornets got the week started with a 46-32 win over Columbia on November 27. Nashville trailed 7-6 after one quarter of play, but the offense came alive in the second quarter to take a 23-16 lead into the break. The Hornets extended their lead in the third quarter as they outscored the Eagles 8-6 to take a 31-22 lead into the final quarter. There was no comeback in the cards for Columbia as Nashville outscored the Eagles 15-10 in the fourth to take the win.
After the game, Hornets coach Wayne Harre talked about his team’s performance. “I thought we did a good job of grinding it out, because it was a grind-out game.”
Bryce Bultman led Nashville with 20 points in the win. Carson Parker added nine points, followed by Tristen Hercules with seven points. Tanner Bergmann finished with four points, while Kelton Harre and Terry Pelczynski each finished with three points.
