Volleyball And Cross Country All-South Announced
The Southern Illinois Coaches Association released their SICA All-South teams this past week for Cross Country and Volleyball.
The Nashville Hornettes volleyball team finished up an unbelievable season this year, which ended with the first state trophy in Nashville history.
The team was rewarded this past week as the Southern Illinois Coaches Association released the All-South team for Class 2A. Jenna Harris, Sydney Schnitker, Delaney Varel, and Abby Wesselmann were all named All-South. Hornettes Coach Josh Konkel, was named Coach of the Year in Class 2A.
Varel led the Hornettes with 218 kills and 89 blocks this season. Varel was also named All-Conference this season.
Harris was named All-South for the first time this season. Harris finished the year with 138 kills, and 24 serving aces on the year.
Schnitker finished with 139 kills and notched 31 serving aces this season. Schnitker was also named All-Conference this season.
Wesselmann led the Hornettes in the back row with 543 digs this season. Wesselmann was a member of the SIRR All-Conference team this season.
Konkel broke the NCHS school record for career volleyball wins this past season. Konkel has been coaching the Hornettes since the 2006-07 school year.
For the second time in his career, Gavin Love has been named All-South by the Southern Illinois Coaches Association.
Love was previously named All-South in 2017.
After being named to the SICA Class 1A All-South Second-Team last season, Love earned his way on to the First-Team this past season.
Love had a great season, as one of the top Nashville runners all year.
Love earned All-Conference honors for the third time, and narrowly missed out on a trip to State.
Love was given the Most Valuable Boys Runner award at the NCHS Cross Country banquet.
