Bierman Begins New Role As County Administrator

A longtime county employee is settling into his new role.

Matt Bierman was selected by the Washington County Board as its new emergency management administrator and zoning, safety and ethics officer at its regular meeting on Tuesday, December 11. Bierman was later sworn in by Judge Dan Emge.

“I’m getting there,” Bierman said of the adjustment. “It’s fairly quiet the last couple of days with a few little building permits.”

Bierman was hired from three candidates. He succeeds Rick Greten, who retired as the EMA after 28 years of service.

The EMA is in charge of creating a framework that will help the Washington County community in times of a natural disaster or other types of emergency.
