Mr. Ray L. Frederking, formerly of Nashville, Illinois departed this life at his home in Mobile, Alabama on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 9:15 AM. He had attained the age of 79 years, 8 months and 25 days.
Mr. Frederking was born on April 4, 1939 in Belleville, Illinois, the son of Ray and Lorna Frederking of Nashville, Illinois. He was married to Patricia (Cunningham) Frederking on August 15, 1959 at the First Baptist Church in Nashville and she survives his passing.
After graduating from Nashville Community High School in 1957, Mr. Frederking attended Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, Illinois, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He received a fellowship to attend graduate school at the University of Iowa where he earned a PhD in Geomorphology. He was a professor at Purdue University, The University of Mississippi, and South Alabama University.
He leaves his wife Patricia of Mobile Alabama, his son Jay, daughter-in-law Katherine Zhang, and granddaughter Kelly Frederking, all of Irvine, California.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffry Scott Frederking who passed away in 1980 at the age of 18, both of his parents, Raymond and Lorna Frederking, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Carnell and Dorothy Cunningham.
Funeral services will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Friday, January 4, 2018 at 1 PM with Rev. Scott Sharp officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery in Nashville, IL.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville on Friday from 12 PM until the service hour.
