Volunteers are hard at work in the kitchen of the Community Center of Nashville on Sunday afternoon. The fundraiser served up approximately 400 pounds of wings to hungry patrons before the big game.
Rhett Renken said the benefit is in its fourth year, and this year was the highest amount fried wings in the fundraiser’s history.
“Word has gotten out over the years, and people are happy to come in and help out the Community Center,” Renken said. “Having a nice day like today makes it easy for everybody to want to come out. It’s been growing every year, and this year is definitely the biggest.”
The Community Center of Nashville currently has several spots for rent, including daily rentals and basketball leagues. Proceeds from the benefit went toward the upkeep and maintenance of the building, which is more than 150 years old.
